Meet Our Head Coach

JP Camperi

With nearly 15 years of experience in the fitness industry and over 30 years immersed in sports and athletics, I’ve dedicated my life to understanding and advancing physical fitness. Growing up in Santa Cruz—the birthplace of CrossFit—I was fortunate to be part of the original CrossFit movement, embracing the camaraderie of small group classes and the value of accountability. For me, fitness has never been about conforming to society’s narrow definitions of “fit.” It’s about becoming better than I was yesterday, surrounded by like-minded individuals on the same journey.


Over time, I realized that the standardized, “cookie-cutter” approach often found in functional fitness programs didn’t fully meet my needs—or those of my clients. This led me to seek a more personalized, in-depth approach to fitness. That journey brought me to OPEX, where I gained a profound understanding of individualized fitness training. Through their methodology, I learned to tailor functional fitness principles to fit not only my daily routines but also my adventurous lifestyle.


By integrating isometric training techniques with dynamic, explosive movements, I developed a comprehensive fitness model that prioritizes mobility, strength, and longevity. This approach goes beyond physical performance—it’s about creating a sustainable foundation for true health and wellness. Today, my passion lies in helping others unlock their full potential, not just in the gym but in their everyday lives, using fitness as a tool to thrive in every aspect of life.

Meet Our Assistant Coach

Sara Camperi

I discovered my passion for fitness when I began CrossFit in 2012, and it has been a vital part of my life ever since. As a CrossFit Level 1 Coach, my goal is to share that passion by helping others build strength, confidence, and a love for movement.


Outside of the gym, I bring care and commitment to my roles as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). These experiences have shaped my approach to fitness, focusing on safe, functional movement to promote overall health and longevity.


When I’m not coaching or working, you’ll find me spending time with my wonderful husband, my three adult children, and two adorable grandsons. I also enjoy scuba diving, spoiling my dogs, and embracing life’s adventures.


I’m thrilled to be part of The Lifting Vault community, where we celebrate progress, resilience, and growth together.

Best crossfit in the county! The equipment is the very best, and its all brand new. Extremely clean, JP the owner is right there to assist with any issues regarding technique. I don't mind driving the extra distance from grass valley for the atmosphere they've created at 530 CrossFit.
